compounding twin screw extruder

Application selection for a compounding twin screw extruder depends on how material enters, where volatiles leave, and which pelletizing or strand path sits downstream. Upstream dryers, liquid injection and downstream classifiers change both quality and operating effort. This page is an operating-context brief, not a promise that one screw diameter covers every filled recipe.

Line interfaces

Operating context
Filled polyolefin, masterbatch, engineering compounds and recycle blends typically use a co-rotating compounding path. PVC pipe, profile and sheet usually need a conical architecture and calibration tooling. Confirm which route applies before comparing kg/h. Representative production samples must travel with the RFQ so melt condition is judged on the actual mix, not a substitute.
Work through this decision

Line interfaces: Must have

List each feeder: polymer, filler, additive, recycle and any liquid. State vent locations and whether vacuum or atmospheric vents are required. Name downstream equipment: screen changer, melt pump, strand die, water bath, pelletizer or underwater system, classifier and bagging. Identify the PLC interface and who coordinates rate between feeders and screw speed. Cleaning and changeover between formulations belong in the same list so purge waste is not ignored.

Tradeoff

Integrating feeders and pelletizing into one manufacturer package can reduce handshake disputes, but it raises the installed project cost and may lock spare-parts sources. Buying the extruder alone and attaching existing feeders can look cheaper until the PLC handshake and mechanical flanges fail to match. Single-machine versus integrated-line is a buyer decision; we will not hide it behind a blended price.
